After a short-lived athletic career, Joel Harris graduated cum laude in economics from Harvard. During a long business career, he published in many literary magazines, including Carleton Miscellany, Prairie Schooner, Transatlantic Review, Confrontation, Northwest Review, and The Texas Review. He is married, with one daughter, and lives in Providence, Rhode Island.
